I've got dozens of great video clips of him on my youtube channel here: [link]
I'm telling you, I love his music too, and not because I feel I have to being his dad either. My fav song of his LIVE is Oh My Stars (he plays a faster version). He formed a band last fall, so he could take his music on the road, and they are getting really tight now. He toured 40 colleges this spring as a solo, and now his band is on a 3 month tour around the US.
He is giving away his last EP now "All Those Pretty Lights". 4 of the 5 songs have been on TV shows. If you don't already have it, go here: [link]
His newest album is THE LADDER, out last February. Since then, 5 of the 10 songs have already been on TV shows this year (3 on Grey's Anatomy) along with his new single IN MY VEINS. I know others will be too. Look for many good things in the future from him! If you were to ever meet him, you would think he was THE nicest most humble guy you ever met!
Oh, y'know what's funny is that people who make the same genre as your son, they are very humble people as well! Hehe! Like Greg Laswell. He's a singer too! On his interview with Grey's Anatomy website, he was real modest about his music. Called them his little songs. Also was featured on Grey's.
I'm listening to your son's music right now! I'll reply back to you to to comment my input! Can't wait to listen to these...
Yeah, Greg Laswell was a big influence on my son, and they later became good friends. In fact, Andrew (Drew) opened for Greg at SPACE in Chicago at the end of last year, so we all got to meet him. Drew ended up crashing at Greg's hotel that night and then working with Greg the next day by singing some back-ground vocals on a "B-sides" record Greg was working on at the time. Hmmm, I never did ask Drew if that got released? I want to hear it. I know that one time Drew and his GF and a few of his friends were hanging at Greg's hotel room after a show, and Drew played his song SIGNS OF LIFE for Greg and it made him cry Believe me, my boy is just getting started. He is going to be HUGE, ha! Being famous is not even his goal. He told us he want's to "make the world a better place with his music". In fact, his GF is a chef, and he could be too if music doesn't work out. He first got honors in college with a business and marketing degree, so he's always got that too. Let me know what you thing of his tunes TC!
(listened to some songs) I personally liked "Signs of Life"! That's a very rad song!I mostly like them all actually! Oh my goodness! Your son is friends with Greg Laswelllll?!?!?!?! Oh my goodness he's one of my favorite artists!!! I can't believe it! They must be very like minded, your son and Greg Laswell. I Almost cried to that song too! Hey, has your son met Ingrid Michealson? She's friends with Greg as well!
I'm so glad that your son has that mentality. I'm an artist myself. At first I wanted to be famous but then I thought: "This chase I'm doing isn't just a thrill. Art is something else. I want to make the world happier and more beautiful with art. Experience new things! Transcend to places no one's ever been before." I feel that your son has reached those places. He makes new emotional experiences with his music. Will you please tell him that? Tell him to never stop creating!!! Also, I'm not an expert that much in music but I really admire your son's interesting melodic phrases that especially repeat themselves in the song often. I find that effective and powerful. I also admire your son's instrument voices he uses. I like how the violins don't sound like regular violins, like kinda electric and so the piano voices as well. I admire the thick texture of the instruments. Y'know how I can barely distinguish which instrument is which. I think that works well.
Since I like your son's music and Greg Laswell's music too, maybe he might consider these artists great as well. They both sound the same! Here's a link to this artist [link] Here's a link to this other great artist Snow Patrol [link] And this artist [link] There are many others but what I'm trying to get across is that your son could meet these people and be inspired by them as well. They sound alot like him!
Thank you for talking to me Mr. Belle. It really is an honor to be speaking with you. I truly admire your son's music!!!
