Nicolas Cage by Doctor-Pencil Nicolas Cage by Doctor-Pencil
This photo of Cage was already cropped in half, like I drew it. I figured it was 1/2 the work, HA!

One of my favorites! In this design I like very much the shadows! You were very good. I like the part under the chin. Very much the eye.

lol...I discovered that holding a 4B sideways and making light circles, it left a grain type texture. Check out the TIP GUIDES I wrote, in my gallery. It's everything I know lol

Thanks Lee. It's a whole process lol. I START using Bristol smooth 300 series paper. It makes a difference! Then I hold a 2B Staedtler pencil sideways and grind it into the tooth in small areas. I then go over it with a harder pencil. Say B, F, or even H. I sometimes go softer too? 3B as a final coat. It takes practice and i do not use software to darken anything :D

thnx for the advice rick i will try tht out :) and yes i have used better drawing paper on last 3 portraits. i use 220gm heavyweight, which is quite smooth too and nice to draw on. i am going to try the bristol smooth 300 series as it does seem smoother thn what i am using :). although what i use i think is very good indeed :).
