Vince Vaughn

I've been wanting to draw Vince for over a year, but never found a photo that made me say, wow! This was kind of a simple one for me, in that there is not a lot of details, so most of the time was spent drawing his eyes, and trying to match the tonal values, which I felt had a nice range.

It had some blurry areas, so the focal point is his eyes.

When I look for a reference photo, I look for the following:
1) High Resolution
2) Wide Range of Tonal Values
3) High Contrast
4) Expression
5) Subject
6) Level of Details
7) Degree of Difficulty

The original photo had a completely white background, so I thought there would be more contrast if I darkened it just above his shoulders? That way there was dark next to his white shirt, but I faded it as I went up, so that it left a nice contrast between his dark hair and a white background? I actually tested this background by drawing on the reference photo, which I always print on Matt Presentation paper, so it reacts well to graphite.

TIME: about 4 or 5 hours (half as much time as usual)
